Job Description

BASIC FUNCTIONS:  Under the direction of the Program Manager, consult with program participants and ID team through ISP process to develops daily, weekly, and yearly curriculum. Assures that all parts of the program participants’ curriculum goals are annually met. These duties could include all duties listed below as well as additional duties assigned by the Program Manager and Director of Programs.

        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Consult with all members of ID Team to develop age-appropriate curriculum for participant that will allow program participant to meet goals agreed during the ISP process.
  • Create and verify that all goals and objectives for each program participant are addressed daily and meet ISP deadlines and goals.
  • Organize, compose, and maintain all specialized documents. Plus, arrange and schedule all meetings and appointments.
  • Verify that program instructors maintain the consumer’s functional skills, self-advocacy, employment training, community integration, self-care and social recreation as required by program design and San Diego Regional Center.
  • Report all accidents/injuries as required in writing, including all suspected adult abuse as well as discrimination or harassment.
  • Responsible to perform other tasks as required and directed by Program Manager and/or Director of Programs to meet program guidelines and safety.
  • Work on floor when required for participants health and safety.

        REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, typing and proof-reading skills
  • Knowledge of office management systems/procedures and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite or related software
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision 
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Title 17 and Title 22
  • Ability to speak a second language is definite plus, but not required

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally may have to lift up to 50 lbs. for purposes of setting up activities or assisting consumers as needed.             Occasionally there may be situations requiring high stamina and walking distances up to half a mile in length. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 Standard office environment and equipment including phone, computer, fax, copiers, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     Minimum of two years experience in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

  • Minimum of AA degree or equivalent
  • Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute and complete an assessment test prior to interview
  • Demonstrates ability to provide staff training, supervision, and planning
  • Communicate effectively with families, Regional Center, and Community Care Licensing
  • Work professionally with all stakeholders, staff, and management
  • Strong advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in written form with strong organizational skills
  • Good listener, follows instruction, and not afraid to ask questions
  • Ability to be flexible and embrace change
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must have a good Health Report and tuberculosis clearance
  • Must be able to obtain the required criminal records clearance
  • First Aid and CPR training will be provided by SMSC
  • Covid-19 Vaccinations recommended
